My son is 8 months old. Whenever he needs to chill, I put on one of our 20+ Baby Einstein videos. I personally will take Baby Einstein over any Wiggles, Barney, or any other annoying characters that sing and dress up in scary costumes. (Well, except for Sesame Street. I grew up on that, so we have to give that show a pass)
Baby Einstein plays classical music that I actually enjoy listening to (having played violin since I was in the 4th grade). These are actually songs that I remember playing, and are soothing as I **try** to get some things accomplished around the house.
Even some of these DVD's say they are for "babies" my 2 1/2 year old daughter likes them too. But its great seeing my son loving these colors, songs, and mesmerizing colors just trickle away. It like puts you in this "zen" mode. I guess thats why it became so awesome, that Disney bought them.
What is it about this? I think that that every parent of a child under 3 needs to own at least ONE Baby Einstein DVD. I personally put this on my "must have" new mom checklist. Forget that stupid bubbling jacuzzi bath that you are going to use one time, and finally realize its easier to just bathe them in the sink - BUY A BABY EINSTEIN DVD!!!
Not to mention as your child gets older, you get to hear him/her giggling at the puppets on the show is just priceless. I wouldnt trade those giggles for anything.
I like the wiggles.
